Re: Coordinate System Editor

Thanks for the suggestion. In this case, working with a custom coordinate system outside of Microsurvey is the easy part. I have many tools and methods for doing so. Figuring out the steps to build one using the coordinate system editor inside Microsurvey with the sample parameters I provided has be...

Coordinate System Editor

I am looking to create a custom coordinate system using the editor but I am struggling somewhat with the process. I have a number of points referenced to NAD83 UTM Zone 11 and I want to reproject them to a custom cartesian system that I want to archive and reuse on other projects in the area. The cu...

Reverse angles - Manual traverse dialog in MSCAD2005 SP 1.3

When entering traverse data manually, is there a way to enter a reverse (negative or left) angle in the horizontal angle field rather than calculating it? I seem to recall being able to do it. Or maybe I was dreaming about being able to do it... it works in MSCAD2009. I am building some training vid...

Thanks Glen. I was beginning to think it was just me. No problem. Raster imagery insert works great. While it is on my mind... I am inserting JPEGs with 'jpw' world files. Rather than keep manually selecting it from the positioning file option or renaming the extension to 'tfw' so it uses it automat...

Glenn, I get the same result in MSCAD 2009 ver 9.2.1.6 (Dec 16/08)

I ran the fix you suggested but the same error message pops up when I run the insert_picture commnd again.

Rebooting the computer, running the fix again prior to the command did not fix it.

When you upload points to the TSC2 into an existing job on the controller, the normal operation is that points already in the job (your obeservations) will be 'updated' with the coordinates you are importing. The original observation record of a given point is still there, but it is flagged as 'dele...

ASCII Import options

I keep meaning to suggest this idea for the MSCAD wishlist.... I'd like a tool that would let me define my own ASCII import formats for MSCAD. For example, given this data file: MARCH 2005 ATS AND ATSCOR POINTS FILE, SEC, QTR, CNR, 10TM_N, 10TM_E, SURVEYED-UNSURVEYED, TYPE 514056,7,NE,CS,5962170.367...

As I thought. Might this be a wishlist item?

Ideally - an option to write a backup of the drawing to another folder everytime autosave ran and when a manual save was performed.

Autosave a drawing backup

We often work with drawing files over a network. I'm looking for an idea to save a copy of the drawing to another folder as an emergency backup, for example, to a BackUpJobs folder on my local hard drive. This drawing would be updated automatically everytime the autosave function ran, or when a manu...

It really depends on what has been fixed. If it is a 'critical' fix to the database and operation of the program, the sooner the better. But other 'cosmetic' changes can wait. If we were only talking a few licenses, it really wouldn't matter. If we're talking about 30 to 50 licenses, many of which a...

It's Friday afternoon, I'm tired and there is too much paper on my desk, so instead of figuring this out for myself, I thought I'd ask for help. When you have a drawing open, Project Manager is available from the File pull down menu. If you close the drawing (and I have drawing_0.flx disabled via th...

Mike, this may or may not be simple depending upon a number of issues: Where do the geo coordinates come from and how accurate are they? There is a big difference in the accuracy between GPS data from a consumer grade handheld to a survey grade RTK system. Have the GPS coordinates been verified as c...

Command line font

I think I already know the answer, but... Is there a way to increase the font size on the MSCAD2004 command line? Thanks Glen. This isn't a major issue anyway since the rasters are external to the drawing to begin with and I'd never load more than one at a time. You just confirmed what I already suspected. MSCAD2004 Raster Images

I can insert/reference a 1:50000 topo map in the background of my MSCAD2004 file and print it. Way cool. If I wanted to be able to view one of many raster images in a given drawing, say a topo map, resource map, air photo, etc. and toggle between them, is there a way it can be done? I started playin...

If I understand you correctly, you don't want to see the CAD functions and menus cluttering up the display. While I don't think I'd want to operate that way, you could probably just build a customized menu and toolbar to show only the Microsurvey functions that you are interested in. There is an 'Al...
