Thanks again Richard - that works OK. I have worked with other packages which allow that process to be done much quicker and easier. By any chance are you coming to the West Coast one day? I could really do with a couple of days training. I would even consider a quick trip to Tassie if you were avai...

Richard If say I have a polygon representing a ground area, and I need to expand it by say 5 metres to allow for a clearing area all around the polygon, how do I do that? I have worked with the shift and rotate function, but the scale thing I cant see doing this particular problem. It is really just...

I want to make it bigger !!

Ladies and Gentlemen.
My square is too small. How do I make it bigger?? I have entered the coords in the Coord Editor - all good. I have looked up "EXPAND" in the help menu but to no avail. Im sure this is an easy task but finding the answer is the hard bit!!

Sorry about the delay Jason - I have been away. Um, I will have to go back to the job I was working on, but if I recall, I could not get a result with negative rotation. When I put in a positive number, straight away it worked perfectly. I will look back at the problem and try to repeat the procedur...

Scale, Shift, rotate

Beware - it appears this function does not like a negative rotate value - positive works fine. Have a great day !

My Friends !! Appending files - whats the easiest way ?

Hello again - all good - I love this forum thing - it allows me to access a database of knowledge all over the world !!! Thats fantastic and few other packages that I have used give that service. Anyway, I was wondering if there is an easier way of adding 2 files together than through the coordinate...

How do eliminate certain points/lines from the DTM creation?

What control do I have over data that is used in the creation of the DTM. It appears that even if I turn off layers that are not required, ( like my control layer which will show crazy elevations ) they still show up in the TIN and then the contour. Sometimes I only want lines for appearance ( like ...

thanx guys - yes I am starting to see that the program is split into a "visual" CAD side and a "survey" MSCAD style. I need to use more of the MSCAD tools in order to keep me database current therefore allowing me to carry out calc's on the data. OK !! I have a new query which I will post !!

Thanx John Yes, I did join the points using the DRAW / LINES command with SNAP on. Not sure of the difference between the MSCad Automap and the other functions. This ( like all new packages ) is a time consuming and frustrating experience. The help menu is good but does not take the place of one on ...

Help - I can make the earth move, but my lines wont budge!

Yes, I surveyed some features which I successfully imported and then joined points by description ( thanks Richard ). I also seperated the information into required layers. Then I "Drew" "Lines" between existing points within the layers. My final job was to do an x,y,z shift of the data. No worries ...

Help! Coordinate editor query

Hi - As a new user, I am not sure of the best way to edit descriptions in the coordinate editor. My descriptions are not "left justified" and do not have the "x" in front of them ( in the field, my code file is not set up to have the x,y,z prefix to the codes). I therefore need to manually go thru t...
