Re: Average Points - FG 8

I now see what you are saying. I didn't try to use the method you mentioned. I think that average routine is probably geared to GPS and not total station.

Re: Average Points - FG 8

After accessing the point database you must select the points that is to be averaged, this can be done either by using the "FIND" feature in Point Database or if you have a data collector that allows you to select the points. (I use a Windows 8 tablet that allows me to select by using "ctrl" + tappi...

Re: Autodesk Field Survey coordinate file

I checked on the Autodesk web site for files with the .crd extension and there seems to be several companies that use the .crd including Carlson and Trimble. How you convert the file depends which company's software created the file.

Re: Autodesk Field Survey coordinate file

I think as long as your ascii import parameters are the same as the parameters of the .crd, i.e. comma or space delimited, and the proper format for North, East, etc. Microsurvey should import the file.

Re: MicroSurvey Key Issues

Does the reinsert message occur after the computer goes to sleep or hibernate? Mine does this on rare occasions. I give the computer and software a couple of minutes and the message goes away and no apparent ill effects to the drawing.

Microsurvey is good about giving a temporary demo key to keep things running smoothly.

Re: Unrecognized Points in the Active Coordinate Editor

I have had some success by performing an audit. To do this at the command line type "audit". When asked to "Fix any errors detected?", enter N. Then if the audit reports errors you can scroll the command lines up or press f2 to see the command history which displays the found errors. You can then ch...

Do you have blocks or xrefs in your drawing? Sometimes it seems when I have done as you described it selects blocks or xrefs.

Re: arrows end points not at endpoints of linework

The way that I solved this is to insert MMARR into a drawing and then key in WBLOCK, set Base Point at end point, select entities, and then save to file that the original MMARR came from. You can do this for MMARR2 as well. MMARR1 is already set to end point.

How are you doing the undo? There several ways and I have tried all that I know and have had no problems. Could be that you are using a way that I am unfamiliar with.

Re: Cogo Curves

By entering 501..502-90 you are telling the program that the instrument is on 502 backsighting a point that is on the same bearing as it is from 501 to 502 and then turning left 90 degrees. I if the back tangent bearing is S34E you enter 502..501-90 or if the ahead tangent is S34E then entering 501....

What version of MsCad are you using? If you have just downloaded the software I would suggest removing it and re-installing the program.

I currently use the Leica TCRP 1205 and I have used the 1100 Series in the past and have had great success with both using the Archer and the Algiz 7. I rented a Trimble, I forget the model, and it was not good. I tried using the Recon that was supplied with the unit and it did not work well either....

Re: Existing Road Alignment

The way I do it is to start over if the alignment is not very long or has curves. You can continue on by choosing to edit the alignment. On of the editing options is to "ADD" and follow the prompts. However, you are not allowed to select a curve. I set the next POT by intersecting the tangents comin...

Re: Existing Road Alignment

The way that I know how do it is by only using lines and arcs. I create these by using the "best fit line" and "best fit curve" under the "MsTools" option, then create an alignment using lines and arcs. It might be possible to draw the alignments using a polyline and then exploding it and then creat...

Re: Saved with errors

The work around that I use is this: I insert the original DWG (as a block) into an open Mscad file that I have created as a "work" dwg and then bind the new "block" and then explode the block and if there are nested blocks you may need to explode more times. I then MScopy from the "work" dwg into my...

I use "Write Shield" screen protectors from PPC Tech [http://www.ppctechs.com/] They are cut to fit the Archer screen and I work in extremely dusty conditions and I usually use 2 or 3 per year.
