MSCAD 2018 questions

I have just switched from 2016 to 2018. 2016 and 2017 is crashing occasionally when gripping and stretching a line. I found a few issues in 2018, .) can't copy/paste part of the text itself in text editing mode which are allowed in previous versions. .) I would like text editing orientation keeping ...

Re: how to get point number hint back in 2016

Hi Brian, Is there a way to turn off independent elevation feature as the drawing looks so crowded with point number and elevation features? and there is another strange issue. When I drag text by the grip, I have to move the text three times. the first time the text slides to right after I release ...

I had same issues. I think for some reasons certain mouse movements is causing rotation of view. It's restored by =>3d views => top view.

Re: string id# not found

Thanks Brian. Option 1 doesn't work and I selected option 2. It's caused by that I imported a profile from 2015 into 2016 and apparently incompatible. I have to recreate a profile in 2016. Hope it will be fixed in the next version.

string id# not found

I used MSCAD 2015 and every time I opened the program it displayed "string id 39252 "display or hide audionote icons not found in the resource file" ; 39253 "&hyperlink icons was not found", 39255,39250. The error messages still show up after upgrading to 2016 sp1. They are just nuisance. Are there ...

how to get point number hint back in 2016

2014/2015 has a great feature that a point number always shows up by its node. It really helps when preparing a topographical plan. It doesn't happen in 2016. Are there any toggles or settings I am missing?

Thanks,

Steven

can anybody follow up? I am running MSCAD 2015 still under maintenance warranty. I posted here to see if they are common issues or I have to file a ticket to seek help. thanks.

Surface detail information and others

Hi, I upgraded to MCAD 2015 for a couple of months and there are some questions I would like to discuss. First, min and max elevation in surface detail interface seems incorrect. I was used to checking min and max to exclude abnormal points before generating contours. now they are same value and it ...

VBA and Lisp functions

I am looking at embedded CAD since I like the interface and customization of ACAD. One of features is VBA programming and Lisp routine. I just downloaded a trail version and can't find the entry to VBA and Lisp. Could anyone can tell me if embedded CAD can support VBA & Lisp?

Thanks.

Re: MSCAD 2013 issues

Hi Stephen, Make sure your boundary polyline is draped onto and extracted as a breakline with each surface, this prevents any triangles from crossing over the boundary line and ensures that the two surfaces have the exact same footprint at the boundary. thanks Brian. You are right and those two sur...

Re: MSCAD 2013 issues

MicroSurvey CAD 2013 SP1 is now available for download ! Thank Brian. I downloaded SP1 and it works well to open ACAD 2013 files though it's very slow sometimes. I have another issue related to area volume calculation. I have two surfaces and one polyline boundary. If I switched surface1 and surfac...

MSCAD 2013 issues

We upgraded to MACAD 2013 recently and experienced some issues: a) copy/paste objects from MSCAD to ACAD2005, paste to original coordinates won't work, it doubles northing and easting figures. b) previous automap file in disorder, for example, we have TB for layer topbank, TBC for layer topbank of c...

MSCAD 2010 crashes when making profile

When I am using MSCAD 2010 to make profile of a 3D polyline, I set vertical multiplier to 5 or 10 instead 1, it halts after answering vertical text labelling... don't know why.

Thanks rwhatman. My question is the scaling operation is on drawing tempb, but apparently for some reasons drawing tempa was touched.

coordinate file not matching drawing file

I created a temporary file called tempa and imported points and saved it. then I saved it to another name called tempb and scaled tempb to feet. then I opened tempa and the display were all right but the coordinates all wrong in feet. I am using MSCAD 2010 and never met this problem before.

Re: RTS has scaling problems

thanks Brian. that's the reason. I typed in scale factor with 8 or 9 decimals and the scale factor always shows 6 decimals, then I used it for ever. Is there any setting I can make it display with more decimals as possible?

Re: RTS has scaling problems

I tried either way, use 0,0,0 as base point and not use any base point, results are same. if coordinates are small like 1000,5000, it's good and no difference. but for UTM, there are something wrong. for example, 5000000.123, 500000.425 will be converted to 16404200.404,1640421.394 instead of 164041...

RTS has scaling problems

When I use RTS interface in Microsurvey 2010 to convert points from metric to imperial, I type in value 3.28084 instead of select M-IF, the results was about nothing 18cm and easting 5cm different. (eg. UTM coordinates 5000000, 500000) unfortunately, I have been using this way for a while and my pla...

Hi, Another option you may want to consider for using wildcards, is that a minor change to your coding format could let you do it. For example instead of 200maple4, using a format like maple200d4 would let you create a maple* entry in your AutoMap that will match all descriptions beginning with map...

we ever did a lot of tree surveys. trees are different species and sizes, canopies. for example, we use 200m4 representing 200mm diameter maple and 4 meters for canopy. I knew we can use wildcard. my question is if there are wildcards for discerning numbers and letters so i don't need to add a bunch...
