Windows mobile 6 file extensions

Does anyone know how to make WM6 display file extensions?
Opening a Field Genius project folder in explorer presents you with multiple files, all with the same name.
It makes picking your exported/imported file very difficult if you don't name it uniquely.

I like the new find feature in the data manager. It would be nice if we could export points directly from the point database screen, either by manual selection or using the results of the search/sort function. I still miss the zero-elevation button. It would be very handy to find all building corner...

You can recall the bearing by typing 1..2 in the direction field, then double tap on it to copy that recalled distance into the calculator. Then enter 90 and press the DMS- button. You do not need to convert to decimal degrees. For entering quadrants you can use NE for quadrant 1, SW for quadrant 3...

fg2007 'new features'

From your website: Math Operators - In this version you can no longer perform advanced distance or direction recall functions that include math operators. For example you can no longer do something like 3..4+2. We are now expecting the user to use the calculator to apply mathematical operations to d...

unit change fg2006

I'm trying to change an imperial fg file to metric. Searching the forums tells me to change the UN entry in the last MO record in the raw file. This change only seems to change the units identifier. Points that were 70feet apart are now inversing 70 meters apart. Elevations are the same, 684' become...

Wish List, part 2

I wish I could... ...enter a bearing + an angle into an input field e.g. 145.0 + 45 (N90E). I can inverse bearings (pt#..pt# + 45) and add an angle to them, but FG won't let me directly enter a bearing ...directly inverse bearings (pt#..pt#) in the direction fields of the rotation routine. I can do ...

I'll tack one of my wishes onto the thread.
I'd like to see a project-rename function in the Project Manager.

For legal surveys there is no issue, I don't care at all if elevations are recorded or not, I ignore them all. Topographic work is different. Shooting building corners is usually the problem, especially with a reflectorless instrument. I can shoot a building corner anywhere from ground level to eave...

That technique would certainly work, but usually I do want to carry elevations. Its just that there is almost always a few shots from each station that I don't want elevations on for one reason or another. This must happen to more people than just me, I suspect others will miss that function as well...

removing Z values

Am I missing something or has the the ability to erase Z values disappeared in FG2006? It looks like I have to edit each point individually and set the z value to zero now, not a very efficient way to do it. What I'd really like to see is the ability to tell FieldGenius not to collect Z values at al...

default settings -2

I think a similar bug has made it back onto FG2005. Our tracker keeps defaulting to North Azimuth for direction display, when we need it as Bearing. Saving as system default does nothing.

I see that entry for all my backsights, except for the first one (backsight by azimuth). Since FG shoots and apparently records a point, I figured it would appear in the RAW file and be a part of the traverse record. It doesn't appear to be happening, and if the backsight point is part of my travers...

Backsight Records in raw files in FG2004

Maybe I'm missing something but I can't see any record of an initial backsight shot getting recorded in the RAW file. The backsight point gets shot, appears on the screen and can get exported in dxf and xyz files, but doesn't appear in the RAW file. I suspect this is why i also cannot view or balanc...

I had to bump this thread to add my vote for this type of rotation. We do it so often, it just seems more natural to pick a line and tell FG what bearing you want it to set. A 'temporary' bearing rotation function/toggle would be nice also, for working with adjacent plans with different reference be...
