Re: Project workflow

Typically in MS you would create multiple tabs to be able to produce multiple printed sheets (printed drawings). You can only have a single DWG file linked to the database file. I do the same thing in Civil 3D, MS and LDD and have done it this way for years in all 3 programs. If you do need to gener...

What version of MSCAD are you running? This issue is much better in the latest version of MSCAD.

Re: SP2

Have you checked to see if you have the most current printer driver for that device and your version of Windows? Did the Boss take both the drawing and the database, or only the drawing home? If he did any editing to the drawing without having the database there as well, then they can get out of syn...

Re: Autodesk Field Survey coordinate file

Try exporting an ASCII file from Autodesk and see if you can bring it into MSCAD that way.

Re: 2013 Unable to find certain hatch patterns MSCAD2013

Type in the command OPTIONS and pick the Paths/Files tab.
Check to see what folders you have set for the Hatch Patterns. Make sure they match the folder structure where they actually exist.

Re: Re-scale the Survey Data

The only way that I know of, to permanently control the layering of points is to use the AutoMAP routine. Unfortunately it is based upon the description of the point so if you use the same descriptions on two different days, it treats them the same and assigns them to the same layer. I do not know o...

Re: MS Points...Wildcard use?

Take a long look at the AutoMap routine as it was designed to do exactly what you are asking for - and a whole lot more. Watch the movies and read the technical notes on helpdesk to see how it works!

Re: Creating a custom wipeout symbol block

Rather than creating your symbol via the block commands - start a brand new DWG and create your symbol. Then save the drawing of your symbol and try inserting it into another drawing. That is how I created the symbols that are supplied with the program.

Re: MSCAD 2013 UPDATE?

I just finished running (yesterday) a 4 day MSCAD 2013 training session, at the head office, and we were using a Beta version of the next patch. It was pretty good. Not sure how long it will be until it is released, but it was pretty stable (except on my XP machine which had almost no hard drive spa...

Re: Moving EVERYTHING, but not Z for some things

Maybe change all ZERO elevations points to an elevation of -999999. Then do a 3D move on everything. Then select all points below -999990 and set them back to ZERO.

Re: Moving EVERYTHING, but not Z for some things

If you do not want the Z to change then maybe only use the move in 2D and ignore the Z.

Maybe try typing the following?

I am not sure if this is correct but it is worth trying.

With the new features in 2013 with the AutoMAP coding, you may be able to do what you are asking. $1 coding may help. I have not tried it mind you.

Re: CUT / FILL map

You can also go another step with Richards instructions. You could draw a GRID of POINTS and use the AUTOP command to add them to your database. The elevation on the points will be the amount of Cut/Fill at that location. Cheers, Glen W. Cameron, C.E.T. Engineer Technician 1 City of North Bay, Ontario
