Re: Chamfer and Filet quit working

Settings are 0 for both. I don't think I reset something, but something has changed. I don't want to reinstall MSCAD , but will if I can't get it figured out.
Thanks for the reply.

Chamfer and Filet quit working

I can start a brand new drawing, draw 2 lines, hit chamfer, get "This command had no effect" error. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

key usage

I use 2 laptops for MSCAD 10. I keep the key in my home laptop. When I go out, and want to run MSCAD, sometimes I forget to pull the key and take it with me.

I have team viewer to connect to the home computer. Is there a way to use the key at home for the remote computer?

Thx, John.

I don't know how many times I overlooked that box when I was comparing the Tools settings on both machines.

A case of Sometimerzers disease, I guess. ;-)

Thx again.

Disable submenus

I'm setting up 2010 on another computer. (2013 is still cumbersome for me.) On my main computer, I can left click a line, then right click and get a list of options. Then I just click the option I want, and perform it in the dwg. On the new set up, left click, right click, choose option, and then I ...

Try typing viewres <enter> then type a larger number than is currently being used.
Try 2000 or 5000.

Re: Creating Contours in Microsurvey

watch the modeling movies to see how to generate contours

It's very easy once you get the hang of it

If you didn't install the movies, you can get them online

Entity snap question

I use hot keys to enable various snaps. ( alt-e= endpoint, alt-p= perpendicular, etc.) I'm using the latest version of MSCAD. With previous versions, using the hot keys was a one time use of the snap. Clicking snap menu, made snap persistent. With the newest release, using the hot keys now make the ...

MSCAD under Linux

I got it working.

Puppylinux 5.11
Latest Wine package
MSCAD 2010 w/o movies
Intel high performance video for my EEEPC netbook.

It runs quite well under Puppy, as the entire OS and Programs are loaded into RAM at boot.

Should run under Ubuntu easily also.

Thanks.

I did have a bit of trouble, but I was using Linux/Seamonkey to D/L the file.

2008 and 2009 D/L'ed without a hitch using the same computer.

Not sure why this release gave me problems, but I did get it, finally.

BTW, has 2010 been tested with Win7?

MSCad2010 Md5sum

Is there a Md5sum available for the 2010 download?

I'd like to confirm I have a good D/L before attempting to install 2010.
An Md5sum would provide verification that the file is intact, and is an exact copy of the posted file.

Break lnes

It appears you are correct.

TIN Lines that "crossed" breaklines are actually broken at the breakline.

I confirmed this by "ID endpoint", and everything appears OK.

I must have connected a couple sets of points incorrectly.

Thanks for your prompt response.

Break lines

I have connected the desired points making my breaklines, extracted points to surface(clear before extract checked), unchecked clear and extracted breaklines. However, the TIN that's created draws polyfaces across the breaklines. Any ideas of what I'm doing wrong, and how to stop crossing breaklines...

ASCII Import problem

We have 2 seats of MSCad 2008. The boss is having problems importing points. The problem is hit-or-miss, and is getting worse. The application locks.

Yet, he can send me the same drawing and ASCII file, and I can import, no problem.

Any ideas what might have gotten changed or corrupted?

THANX!

Can ms5 files be used to re-create a .dwg file?

Is there a way to get my changes back?

Multi-threading?

Are we close to getting MSCAD optimized for dual and quad core CPU's?

The way MSC runs, it should greatly benefit from distributing .log, .bak, .msd, .sv$, etc file functions to separate threads.

Also........Any plans for 64 bit implementation?

Thx.

No problem with my 60 YO old eyes. ;-) Is there a store where you can look at different monitors, before ordering? The 14x10 screen would be nice for watching movies, but for productivity, 16x12 is much better. I'm considering adding either my 2 17's in portrait mode, or a 24" 1990x1200 to my duals,...

I run 2005 on a wide screen 14.1 laptop with no distortion.

But I prefer the dual 1600x1200s on my desk.

I'd highly recommend the higher rez 20.1"s or 23-24" @ 1600x1200.

You'd get ~40% more working area.
