Smoothing Contours

For some reason I cannot smooth contours in version 2010. I've tried the entity modification setting but it did not help. I've sent a drawing to support and got it back saying that he could only smooth them in 2009 version. I've tried starting from scratch in 2010 and I still get this ": smoo Return...

Lisp functions cannot be transparent

I am editing an existing drawing and in finally getting the title block to look right I want to scale my viewport and come up with this error. ERROR: User defined Lisp functions cannot be transparent. How can I change this? Also the only way to change some info in the title I have to explode it then...

Saving drawing in paperspace

Maybe it’s my computer but when in paper space I cannot save the drawing. If I try the program crashes. Most of the time it will make it through the auto-save but a manual save or just quit and save just put it into a grind and I have to close out.

Thanks Richard and Jason. I was off for a few days and had figured this out. I started with the "draw 3d cylinder" comand and was able to draw each section of pipe at the centerline lengths then using "rotate 3d" along the proper axis (this part took a while) was able to put the sections of pipe tog...

Yes Richard I have tried that. Starting with 2d lines showing C/L pipe and the pipe walls as if the complete section of pipe was laying on the ground on a flat surface. At that point it is a deflection of 63.04 degrees. The next step and appears to be simple but I can't get it, is to rotate 3 dimens...

3d Poly Line Role?

I have a problem I wonder if anyone can help. I have a 2.8m ID pipeline with a 4 cut miter bend and have to layout a saddle for each section. The 4 cut miter has a 55.49 degree horizontal bend combined with a 36.8425 degree vertical bend. The true bend on the pipe is 63.04 degrees with the role of c...

3D Polyline

I cannot draw a 3D polyline? The commands "3P", "pl3p", "poly3p" or picking from the pulldown will not work. So I tryed just drawing the lines from node to node and then using the edit polyline command and that didn't work either. It brings up "An entity which is defined in the current UCS is needed...

Zoom Scroll Mouse

I just installed on a new computer and have the problem that the mouse wheel only and continuously scrolls the text in the command line instead of zooming the drawing. I’ve read the posts but did not find a fix. I also tried other options in the mouse properties to no avail. Does anyone no of a fix?

You can have one big viewport and then create another small detail viewport within the limits of the large one, but can you then NOT have the large one show through the detailed one?

Automap Descriptions

I'm just seting up an automap library and after running it, the drawing description changes but the database still has the numbered decriptions or codes. The only way I see to change this is to bring the points in, process the automap, then bring the points in again with the description translation ...

Mouse

This happens to me periodically as well on XP Pro but with an old style mouse (ball and cord). All I do is move the curser all the way to the bottom left corner. It (the curser) shows up on the start button, click it (Start) and then go straight back to your drawing. That seems to re-set it all the ...

Measure

I am running SP 4, but I did have to reload everything just yesterday. I had some other computer problems and uninstalled MS Cad, reloaded the SP 2 off of disk, loaded SP 3 then 4 off the website.

Joining 3d Polylines

After exploding the different 3d polylines and using the p-edit command to join them it lists and looks as though everything is joined and fine. But if you view in 3d you will see that it draws the line at one elevation. It calculates fine and can be used as a break line in a surface so it appears t...

Measure Command

I can't seem to get the measure command to work. Years ago I used this command to put little blocks on a line or polyline to make a good looking fence but now I can't seem to make it work. Am I missing something?

MSJ

I don’t think the msj directory has ever closed for me in version 2002. When I first loaded it and noticed I re-opened, purged, saved and saved as in hopes of finding a way of making it close but to no avail. Just figured out that deleting the directory was ok so left it at that. We have been runnin...

MSJ Directories

Why is the database directory (*.msj) being left open? I have found that I can just delete the msj directory and the msd file still holds the database with the coordinated points but in previous versions that directory closes as you close your drawing. It always makes me nervous deleting those direc...

Writing DWG Files

I had an Autocad user just inform me of the problems that he gets when opening any drawings that I create for him. Other than the shape file problem, which is easily fixed, it comes up with an error reading: Invalid 2d polylines present in drawing. 3d vertex present in 2d polyline and also the same ...
