Forum issues

Our forum is back. Early this week we had a catastrophic problem appear on a Linux web server. The machine would max out at 100% of the cpu whenever it was booted. It was so bad that diagnostic routines would not even work on it. Our web hosting service (RackForce) recommended that the best solution...

This computer is not behaving in any way that I have heard of before. Immediately hook up and copy all the files off the SystemCF\MicroSurvey FieldGenius\FG Projects directory onto your desktop computer. There is nothing you should be able to do to the unit that will corrupt the information on the S...

No, but if you want to modify the complexity of on-screen items, just play with Viewres. It works to reduce the number of plotted vectors on the screen to speed up the display.

Type Viewres at the command line and test various values from 10 to 10000 to see how your system reacts.

There is no MSCAD lisp version, but your method is about as short as you are going to get even if there was. You could use an if() statement and just check one of the variables instead of both. Your solution is a good one, especially if you put it in a library function that can be called from any li...

We did not "clean the download" because the download is not, nor was it ever infected. At MicroSurvey all machines are loaded with a Corporate Edition of Symantec 10 Anti-virus software. It is running on the server and all clients. Every file that is copied onto or off of the server is automatically...

Hello,

What kind of a system are you looking for? Since you mention sub meter, we might recommend the Omnistar supported equipment. Our testing showed it to have quite good performance from a single receiver.

Holding down the power button on the Tracker for more than 5 seconds forces it to do a hard reset, which causes it to reload the operating system. I was under the impression that you had already done this. I'm glad to hear that you got it going. I guess I found a more "permanent" way of removing the...

If the nk.bin file is missing, then there is no operating system to restore. Unfortunately this poorly labeled file ( Microsoft should have called it 'operating system - do not erase.bin' ) can be accidentally erased. We may be able to reload the operating system here in our office, although we have...

If you installed the service pack for the 2004 version on top of the 2001 version, then you do have a little clean up to peform. First, go to the add/remove programs and un-install the inCAD 2004 Service Pack. Then re-install your original inCAD 2001 version. The inCAD 2004 version has many fantasti...

I would recommend that you turn on the Trace Log function and send us the file generated. We can tell from the log what is happening between the gun and the data collector. It sounds like you should be able to generate a few different log files from the students so we can determine the problem.

If you are importing a TDS RW5/RAW file, you do not have to rename it to RW5 extension.

Just use the "Files of type:" option when you get to the dialog entitled "Enter name of TDS/FieldGenius raw data file:" and select .raw in the list.

The Hot Toggle display updates everytime you execute a registered MicroSurvey command. Changing an internal lisp variable does not run a command, so we do not know that anything has happened.

Are they MicroSurvey dimension commands (which you should use for Surveying drawings) or are they the built in CAD dimension commands?

Hello, Your message covers multiple topics. 1. If you have 2 SDR data collectors and the same file reads correctly into one but incorrectly into the other, then the file is probably Ok. I would suspect there is some kind of scale factor being applied by the datacollector while importing the file. Is...

Jason is assembling a SP1.1 that has a few important bug fixes in it. I believe the curve inverse problem was jumped on when it came in. The second item in the Release Notes may solve your problem. We have tested it on many systems and it retains the toolbar position when we exit and restart the software.

Hello, In general, 2005 should be better at running lisp than 2004, but if you have made modifications that were particular to FelixCAD, then they will be causing the problems. Do the lisp routines use any dialogs? These will certainly need work. Do you have any versions of the lisp routines that ru...

Of course we would recommend MSCAD...

Any version of MSCAD 2005 will process these types of raw files correctly with a lot of flexibility.

You should download a trial, if you do not already have the software, and run a raw file into it.
