AT the risk of appearing more ignorant than I usually seem, can anyone direct me to a good "beginner" book on the RPN calculator??
I googled it, and there were over a million hits, none of which after 19 pages, seemed to be what I was looking for...
I really enjoy the fact that I have to go to the calculator to add an angle to a bearing now...
Thanks for any suggestions...

Not sure what you're wanting from this?
Is it the RPN bit that your'e not familiar with?
Don't worryy about the 'appearing ignorant' bit we're all ignorant in areas.

Richard...
Thanks for the reply..
Basically, I know nothing about the RPN calculator at all...the MicroSurvey manual leaves a little bit to be desired, in my opinion...
I do have a HP48gx, but have only used it with TDS software...not even sure if I still have the manual for it or not...still looking...I have never used the 48 as a calculator...

Randy the main thing about the MSCAD RPN calculator is that its 'RPN" 'Reverse Polish Notation' There's nothing special about the MSCAD part other than Microsurvey offer it for our benefit (thanks Microsurvey)
That to me sets it apart from everyday calculators that I find after a lifetime of RPN are rather cumbersome.
See http://www.calculator.org/RPN.html
This gives a brief difference between the two formats.
Understanding the basics of RPN is where the key lies, once mastered you can hit the keys without looking at them and very quickly perform complicated calculations.
If you want, send me an email offline.
Not sure this is what you're after.

Richard..
Thanks again for the response!
I guess what I am after is something that I can learn the basics of the RPN calculator from the beginning..
I can sorta see the logic in simple equations, such as the one you referenced or linked while ago...I just need some basic instruction...like entering bearings, and adding bearings or adding angles to the bearings...something that will make me comfortable with the whole RPN thing...
I just have never used it, and don't have the faintest idea what I'm doing...
Thanks again..
