Why no Point code in .dxf, but notes?

Post by RaithCH » Tue Nov 15, 2005 10:59 am

Hi everbody!

I am trying to find out if there is a fix for a real flaw (in my opinion) in the dxf export routine. You can get Point IDs (#), Elevations, and even Notes: but you can't get the point code i.e. BM, CL etc. that you've input. Why? What would be the practical reason? I am trying to buy the Tracker/FieldGenius for our department and we are running AutoCAD LT. So the only way of getting something productive out of the Tracker is to use the .dxf file. At first I thought this is great, but now I am not so sure. If I can't see the point code, it negates the whole idea of using the data collector that way. I am in a hurry for an awnser, since I have to give back our demo unit.

DXF Export

Post by Glen Cameron » Tue Nov 15, 2005 1:49 pm

I just checked with the development team and 2005 did not export the description codes in the DXF file.

FG2006 (in Beta testing right now) fixes this issue. I just ran it here and it now provides the ability to export the Description Codes as well as everything else you mentioned.

So Problem solved in FG2006!
