MicroSurvey 2012 release date
Any word on the release data for MicroSurvey 2012? I have seen plenty of ads for the past 2 months, hope my subscription does not expire prior to the release date.

Re: MicroSurvey 2012 release date
Hi,
It's coming very soon. We are waiting for one critical fix to the IntelliCAD engine without which our IPN system is dead.
We are really keen on getting it out the door. But, we have several other significant enhancements that are being build for release through the year. My suggestion is to renew your maintenance so you can get the planned spring and summer updates. They are on the calendar now.

Re: MicroSurvey 2012 release date
From Intellicad's Website
May, 2007 Anounces a new intellicad that has been three years in development
October 2008 Intellicad World Meeting Announced Intellicad 7
September, 2009 7.0 to members (5 years in development at this point)
February, 2010 Beta 2 released (now 6 years)
June, 2011 7.0 to the public (now 7 years)
February, 2012 going on eight years and still waiting.
Has anyone considered a change of leadership at intellicad?
Eight years to develope! Makes me wonder What we are going to get.

Re: MicroSurvey 2012 release date
Hi there,
The IntelliCAD consortium is not profit driven, so normal expectations kind of go out the window. The members fund the development and it creates software as fast as the funding allows. We expect the new IntelliCAD to provide us with a CAD engine for another decade. The core needed a complete rewrite to give it a future. 120 man years of work and it is starting to come to life.

You can fire up MSCAD 2010 and then Under Help>About it tells you how many days you have left.nlabedzki wrote:Hi Darcy,

If you have your license key plugged in you can also go Start>Programs>MicroSurvey>MicroSurvey CAD 2010>License Manager and that will give you an exact date when your subscription expires.

Re: MicroSurvey 2012 release date
On Feb 28 the next update was 'soon'. My birthday is end of August. Anybody want to take bets on which comes first? If the only thing holding this up it the IPN system as stated, I would say issue the software. Or are there other issues?

That response does provide encouragement. However, I will wait for actual results..... with great anticipation.

Re: MicroSurvey 2012 release date
Been to South Dakota, shot prairie dogs, got back, ran several township lines, (I think I'm pissing off the County Engineer, he is re establishing according to local center lines), August 22 (my birthday) is getting closer, release of 2012 was 'soon' back in Feburary, 2012 or before. Is there a definitive unit of measure of 'soon'? Years?, Months?, Days?, Decades?

Hi Tim, is "very soon" definitive enough?

On Feb 28 (See above) Darcy said 'It's coming very soon.' By that measure a release date sometime between Halloween and Thanksgiving would be indicated.

Re: MicroSurvey 2012 release date
The article also states that 600 bugs and problems have been fixed since the 7.1 release. 600! I, for one, have the patience to wait for those to be fixed and not the patience to deal with them myself while under the gun to finish a drawing. Several years ago, Microsurvey introduced a new version, in my opinion, too soon, and then released the fixes as they were reported - sometimes daily. There were many unhappy customers every day complaining about how they paid good money for a bug riddled product and didn't appreciate being used as guinea pigs. This turned into a complaint board and not a help board. I suspect that this is the release we've been waiting on and we'll be much happier for it.

Re: MicroSurvey 2012 release date
I have to agree TM.. let them get it stable first then send it out to us.
We have two separate entities here.. the ITC and MicroSurvey and
I don't see how MS could really finalize until the ITC finishes their end.
Carlson did an early release .. go read their forum ..

Re: MicroSurvey 2012 release date
I see that the MicroSurvey CAD 2012 documents have disappeared and been replaced with blanks for MicroSurvey CAD 2013 and no downloads for the MS CAD 2012. Does that mean there won't be an upgrade until next year? I sure hope I will still be able to get the upgrade since I supposedly bought MS CAD 2012 last December. Also will I get a one year continuance on my maintenance subscription since MS CAD 2012 did not come to pass?

Re: MicroSurvey 2012 release date
Hello,
Because we are mid-year with the release we decided to change the name of the product from MicroSurvey CAD 2012 to MicroSurvey CAD 2013. Because the next version of MicroSurvey CAD now has "2013" in the name, it does not imply that it will be released in 2013. It's just what I call marketing fluff, it's just a number.
On June 25, IntelliCAD released version 7.2 which has many needed improvements and features that we know our customers need. So we decided to delay the 2012 release and port our code to IntelliCAD 7.2 and brand it as 2013. The porting will go quickly and we will have the next beta version ready very soon. The final release of 2013 will fall into place quickly as well.
Stay tuned ...

Re: MicroSurvey 2012 release date
Hello,
I would like to add one more comment. Our goal is to provide you with the best possible software solution that is reliable, stable and affordable. Basing MicroSurvey CAD on IntelliCAD helps us meet these goals.
Because we are joined at the hip with IntelliCAD we have to schedule our release cycle around their releases. While we could have released something sooner we held off from releasing because our reliability and stability goals were not being met. In other words we have standards set for ourselves that we must meet before we will release any version. Hence - the delay.
We are now preparing our next beta using IntelliCAD 7.2 and so far it looks very good.
And I'm sure the bet is still on between Darcy and Tim. We may still win the bet but If we lose we will give him a gift for his birthday.

Re: MicroSurvey 2012 release date
As bad as I would like to see the next version, I would have to agree with TM. I never used Ver 2004 because of the bugs. I'd rather have it right than quick.
However, I am concerned that the rewrite of Intellicad has taken 8 years. 7.2 has corrected over 600 bugs!...after ten years in developement. Although intellicad is a non profit, it is supported entirely by private enterprize who depend on the results. If I were a member of Intellicad, I would be quite vocal at this point.
And beside that, I'm enjoying this conversation immensely and looking forward to that gift.

This is a link to a more descriptive list of 7.2 features. http://intellicadms.com/site/new-features.html Sounds good. Darcy may win the bet yet. What's your favorite beverage Darcy?

I'll take that bet.

August 1 today. My birthday is in 21 days. The maintenance agreement expires in 18 days. Still waiting for that software update. This bet is starting to look pretty good.
