Running Versions 2002/2001 together?

Post by Lee M » Fri Mar 12, 2004 1:56 pm

We upgraded to MSCad 2002 from MSCad 3.1 and are also running a copy of MSExpress 2001. Because of the new database format we have run into a problem when a file has been opened in Ver. 2002 and then changes are made in 2001. We consistently save our files in Ver. 2001 so all operators have access. However, changes made in Ver. 2001 are not automatically seen in the new version because the .msd file is not updated. Is there a patch that automatically deletes the .msd file when we save back to Ver. 2001?

When you save back to 2001, the PST database file is created automatically. So you can open the job in 2001 and see all the work from 2002 and continue to work in the file.

If you then open the job in 2002, the MSD file would be accessed automatically. This means that the PST file is ignored - this is the problem you have described.

It is not a good idea to maintain 2 different versions of software in an environment where they can both access the same jobs.

We do not have any mechanism to automatically delete a MSD file in 2001 when we open a job saved back from 2002.

You will have to manually do the erasing, or the best solution would be to get everyone working on the same version of the software.
