Lat/Long Inmport

Post by GEM » Fri May 20, 2005 8:35 am

I seem to be doing something wrong in my attempt to import an ascii file of lat/long points. I get an error mesaage that the points database is not in Lat/Long format. I cant' find how to change the format for Lat/Long. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

I assume you have gone to the MsPoints menu -> Import ASCII Points or Lat/Long file. Then you have selected the Lat/Long delimited option. On the next dialog you have chosen the correct import Datum for your data.

The help button displays this format file example:

# This file shows Latitudes and Longitudes in Comma delimited format
1, -113.354926862 , 53.335908118 , 0.000 , TESTPOINT1
2, -113.355029820 , 53.342518169, 100.000 , TESTPOINT2
3, -113.355028980, 53.341403934 , -100.000 , TEST POINT 3

Picking the OK button permits you to find and select your file.
It is then read in and converted to coordinates, as we can not work in Lat/Long directly.
