Before I send a ticket for my problem, I would like to know if anyone else has experienced the same thing.
I cannot save a dwg which contains an image in mscad2010. I can bring in an image, manipulate it (scale it, move it etc) and I can even print it. BUT... the moment I press the save button...CRASH. Everything I have done since bringing in the image is lost.
I have resorted to using 2009 when using images and it works perfectly.
Anyone?

See post below this one
the only way I have a resemblance of sense is to have EVERY drawing set to a PDF default printer.
It has nothing to do with whether you want to print or not. But somehow some printers just mess with MSCAD by their very existence.
Do you have a PDF printer you can have as default for EVERY job?
That said I still get the odd dwg with an image that crashes.

Thanks for your prompt reply, Richard.
I have done a couple of quick tests after setting my dwg default printer to pdf. Unfortunately it hasn't made much difference for me, although instead of crashing every time I save, I can now get the save to work after each command. In other words: bring in image>save. Draw a line>save. Add text>save. copy text once and then move it>save...crash! AArgh! Easier to use 2009 with images until I have some more time to spend fiddling.
I am sending reports after every crash so they should be flooding in!

Yes agree - its a real PAIN
If I am tracing off aerials, instead of trying to save my work, I copy the traced lines and any text to a new dwg - using the copy between dwgs command.
Then save that dwg.
Also use the create block and export block.
Either way allows me to get some work done with files with images that want to act contrary.

crashing when saving
Glen is correct (as usual), freeze the image or unload it before saving. Always zoom extents prior to saving or you'll pay the price. The strange thing is that my computer seems to crash more readily now than when I first installed 2010..it seems to "learn to be bogus"
